Turn a Trade Finance Requirement Into a Lender-Ready Transaction

Financely structures trade finance transactions and distributes them to lenders whose credit mandates fit the underlying trade. Instead of sending an unstructured funding request to dozens of institutions, we determine how the transaction should be financed, prepare the credit case, identify appropriate lenders and run the distribution process through indicative terms, due diligence and closing.

The objective is straightforward: convert a commercial trade flow into a financing proposition that a credit committee can actually underwrite. That can mean restructuring payment mechanics, defining eligible collateral, adjusting tenor, introducing controlled collections, creating a borrowing base, assigning receivables, incorporating credit insurance or choosing a different facility altogether.

Trade Finance Distribution Starts With Structuring

Most trade finance requests do not arrive in lender-ready form. A company may know that it needs $5 million to purchase inventory, issue a letter of credit or bridge receivables, but that is not yet a financing structure. A lender still needs to understand exactly when money is advanced, what the borrower acquires with it, where title sits, how the goods are controlled, when the receivable is created and which cash flow repays the facility.

Financely operates between the commercial transaction and the lending market. We first analyze the underlying purchase and sale cycle. We then determine which financing structure best matches that cycle before distributing the opportunity to relevant banks, specialty finance companies, private credit funds and trade finance lenders.

This is the difference between lender distribution and indiscriminate lender outreach. Distribution should begin after the credit proposition has been defined. Our broader trade finance structuring practice covers the work required to move a transaction from a funding request into an underwritable facility.

One Mandate Across the Trade Finance Process

01. Diagnose

Map the Trade Cycle

We identify where liquidity is required in the transaction and why. This includes supplier payment dates, production periods, shipment dates, inventory holding periods, documentary milestones, buyer payment terms and the expected cash conversion cycle.

02. Underwrite

Analyze the Credit

We review the borrower, management, historical performance, supplier relationships, buyers, transaction margins, trading history, financial statements, collateral and execution capability. For commodity transactions, this may also include price exposure, basis risk, hedging policy, inspection and logistics.

03. Structure

Design the Facility

We determine whether the trade is better suited to a documentary letter of credit, pre-export facility, inventory line, receivables facility, borrowing base, supplier finance structure, transactional loan or another short-term credit solution.

04. Package

Prepare the Credit Case

The transaction is converted into a lender-facing package that explains the borrower, trade flow, facility requirement, sources and uses, collateral, repayment mechanics, risks, controls and requested terms.

05. Match

Map the Right Lenders

We screen lenders by ticket size, borrower jurisdiction, commodity or sector, obligor profile, collateral type, facility tenor, advance rate requirements and structural appetite before distribution begins.

06. Distribute

Run Controlled Lender Outreach

Qualified lenders receive the transaction in a consistent format. We manage lender questions, requests for additional documentation and credit feedback rather than forcing the borrower to repeat the same process institution by institution.

07. Compare

Evaluate Financing Terms

Where lenders return workable terms, we compare pricing, advance rates, collateral requirements, recourse, tenor, reporting obligations, concentration limits, covenants, conditions precedent and execution requirements.

08. Execute

Move the Selected Structure Toward Closing

Once a preferred financing route is selected, the process moves into lender diligence, documentation, collateral perfection, account control, insurance requirements and other closing conditions required for first utilization.

What We Distribute

The platform is designed for real commercial trade flows. Financely can distribute transactions involving importers, exporters, commodity traders, distributors, processors, manufacturers and other operating companies with identifiable suppliers, buyers and sources of repayment.

Structure Typical Use Primary Credit Support
Documentary Letter of Credit Facility Supplier payment for imports and cross-border purchases Borrower credit, cash margin, inventory, receivables or transaction collateral
Pre-Export Finance Production, procurement and pre-shipment working capital Export contracts, assigned proceeds, inventory and controlled collection accounts
Inventory Finance Financing goods between purchase and onward sale Controlled inventory, warehouse receipts, collateral management and advance-rate controls
Receivables Finance Funding the period between delivery and buyer payment Eligible trade receivables, assignments, controlled collections and obligor quality
Borrowing-Base Facility Recurring inventory and receivables funding Eligible A/R and inventory subject to advance rates, reserves and concentration limits
Purchase Order Finance Funding supplier obligations against confirmed customer demand Purchase order, buyer quality, supplier economics and controlled settlement

For repeat contract-driven businesses, our contract and trade finance structuring and placement process covers the financing lifecycle from diagnosis through underwriting, risk mitigation, placement and execution.

What a Lender-Ready Trade Finance Package Contains

Lenders do not need a 200-page data room before deciding whether a transaction fits their mandate. They do need enough structured information to make an informed credit-screening decision. We therefore organize the file around the actual underwriting issues rather than forwarding a folder of unrelated documents.

Transaction summary. Borrower, requested facility, use of proceeds, transaction size, tenor, currency and required closing timetable.

Commercial flow. Supplier, buyer, Incoterms, goods, purchase price, resale price, gross margin, shipment cycle and payment terms.

Funds flow. A clear explanation of when lender funds are deployed, which account receives them, when title transfers and how repayment proceeds reach the lender.

Credit analysis. Historical financial performance, liquidity, leverage, trading history, management capability, counterparties and relevant concentration risks.

Collateral architecture. Inventory, receivables, assignments, account control, insurance, warehouse arrangements, guarantees, reserves and proposed advance rates where applicable.

Risk analysis. Supplier performance, buyer default, price risk, basis risk, logistics, documentary risk, foreign exchange, fraud, sanctions exposure and structural mitigants.

Supporting documents. Purchase and sale contracts, invoices, purchase orders, financial statements, corporate documents, trading history, bank information, logistics documents and other evidence relevant to the specific structure.

Distribution Is Mandate-Based

Trade finance lenders have specific credit boxes. A fund that finances U.S. receivables may have no interest in African commodity inventory. A bank comfortable issuing import letters of credit may not finance pre-export working capital. A lender that accepts agricultural inventory may reject energy commodities. Another may require insured OECD obligors, minimum EBITDA or a minimum transaction size.

Sending every transaction to every lender is therefore poor distribution practice. It wastes the borrower's time, weakens lender relationships and generates feedback that has little value because the institutions were never appropriate for the transaction.

Financely maps distribution according to lender mandate. We assess ticket size, geography, commodity or industry, borrower profile, facility type, tenor, advance rate, buyer quality, collateral and structural complexity before deciding which institutions should receive the opportunity.

Our role is not to manufacture lender appetite. We improve the probability of a serious credit review by ensuring the transaction is properly structured and presented to institutions that can actually consider it. Credit approval remains with the lender.

We Do Not Operate an Open Deal Marketplace

Trade finance contains sensitive commercial information. Supplier pricing, customer relationships, contractual margins, inventory positions, bank lines and working-capital constraints should not be displayed indiscriminately across an open marketplace.

Our distribution model is controlled. A transaction is reviewed before outreach begins. The borrower is packaged into a coherent credit case. Relevant lenders are selected according to fit. Information can then be released in stages as lender interest develops and confidentiality requirements permit.

This is why we describe Financely as a trade finance distribution platform rather than a listing site. The value is not a database of lender names. The value is the underwriting and distribution process between the transaction and the institutions capable of financing it. You can read more about the model on our global trade finance platform.

For Commodity Traders

Commodity finance requires particularly precise distribution because lenders have different appetites for commodities, origins, storage structures, price risk and collateral controls. A request involving copper cathodes in bonded storage is not equivalent to a receivables facility against investment-grade fuel buyers. A pre-export cocoa facility is not underwritten like an import letter of credit for manufactured equipment.

For physical commodity traders, we can assess purchase and sale contracts, gross trading margin, counterparty exposure, hedging arrangements, inventory controls, title, insurance, warehouse arrangements, receivables and the required cash conversion cycle. The resulting structure can then be distributed to institutions with relevant commodity-finance capability.

Our structured commodity finance practice covers transaction-led facilities for established traders, processors and commercial counterparties.

For Importers and Exporters

Many importers and exporters do not require exotic structured finance. They require a credit facility that fits the timing of the underlying trade. An importer may need an issuing line that converts into post-import finance. An exporter may need production finance before shipment and receivables funding after delivery. A distributor may require a revolving line against eligible inventory and customer invoices.

Our role is to determine the point in the cycle where capital is trapped and structure around it. The financing request then becomes much more precise than "we need working capital." The lender sees a defined amount, defined tenor, identifiable collateral and identifiable repayment event.

For Lenders and Trade Finance Funds

Distribution works in both directions. Banks, private credit funds, specialty finance companies and other institutional lenders need qualified origination that fits their credit mandate. They do not need endless broker emails, incomplete applications or transactions that fall outside their geography, ticket size or collateral policy.

Financely's distribution process is intended to give lenders a cleaner first look at transactions. Where we know a lender's mandate, we can screen transactions before distribution and present the relevant commercial, financial and collateral information in a consistent format.

Who Is a Good Fit?

Established Operating Companies

Importers, exporters, traders, distributors, processors and manufacturers with verifiable commercial activity, identifiable management and a genuine need for working capital tied to trade.

Defined Transactions

Facilities supported by purchase contracts, sales contracts, invoices, purchase orders, inventory, receivables or other identifiable commercial obligations.

Financeable Counterparties

Transactions where suppliers and buyers can be independently verified and where the lender can understand supplier performance risk and the ultimate source of repayment.

Realistic Capital Structures

Borrowers that understand lenders may require equity, collateral, guarantees, reserves, controlled collections, reporting and other protections appropriate to the transaction.

What We Do Not Distribute

We are not an outlet for unverifiable commodity allocations, circular broker chains, unexplained commodity discounts, fictional proof-of-product packages or transactions where nobody can identify the actual buyer and seller. We also do not treat an ICPO, LOI or unsigned commercial offer as evidence that a company has the financial capacity to execute a trade.

A transaction must survive basic commercial and credit analysis before lender distribution makes sense. If title, counterparties, repayment or funding mechanics cannot be established, adding more lenders to the process does not solve the underlying problem.

Why Use a Distribution Platform Instead of Approaching Lenders Directly?

A capable borrower can approach lenders directly. The problem is that trade finance is fragmented. Different institutions finance different stages of the trade cycle and use different collateral, jurisdiction, ticket-size and obligor criteria. A company can spend months speaking with banks that were structurally incapable of funding its transaction from the beginning.

The second problem is presentation. A financeable company can still produce an unfinanceable submission. If the repayment mechanics, collateral, requested advance rate and transaction cycle are unclear, a lender may reject the opportunity before reaching the underlying merits.

Financely addresses both problems. We structure the financing request before distribution and then direct it toward lenders whose mandate is relevant. This gives the borrower a single execution process rather than a collection of disconnected lender conversations.

The Result Is a Better Financing Process

The deliverable is not a spreadsheet of lender names. It is a structured financing process. The borrower enters with a commercial trade requirement. We turn that requirement into an underwritable credit proposition, distribute it to appropriate lenders, collect credit feedback and help move viable terms toward closing.

That process can also expose problems before the market does. A requested advance rate may be too aggressive. The tenor may extend beyond the self-liquidating trade cycle. The buyer concentration may be unacceptable. The seller may need to accept different payment mechanics. Inventory may require third-party control. The borrower may need additional equity. Identifying those issues before broad lender outreach protects both the transaction and the borrower's credibility.

Submit a Trade Finance Transaction for Distribution

If your company has a genuine trade finance requirement, submit the transaction to Financely for review. We will assess the commercial flow, financing requirement, counterparties, collateral and repayment mechanics, determine the appropriate structure and provide commercial terms for a formal mandate.

Once engaged, we structure the transaction into a lender-ready package and run targeted distribution to relevant financing institutions. Financely provides paid advisory and distribution services. Financing remains subject to lender underwriting, due diligence and final credit approval.
