An IPIP transfer cannot be received safely by starting with IP addresses. Start with the banking relationship. The recipient needs to know which institution holds the funds, what account is being debited, how settlement will occur and whether the receiving institution accepts the proposed technical workflow.

Build the File Around Institutions, Not Servers

Technical information may become important later, but it is not a substitute for banking facts. A receiving file should first identify the sender, regulated institution, beneficial owner, source of funds, purpose and settlement currency.

Receiving Workflow

  1. Transaction intake. Record the amount, sender, currency, purpose and proposed receiving entity.
  2. Institution verification. Independently verify the institution that allegedly controls the sending funds.
  3. Source-of-funds review. Establish the economic origin of the money and supporting evidence.
  4. Receiving-account onboarding. Open or designate an account appropriate for the transaction profile.
  5. Technical review. Only then evaluate the proposed server-to-server or IP-based communication method.
  6. Settlement confirmation. Treat the receiving-bank credit as the relevant financial event.
  7. Disbursement. Execute pre-documented outgoing instructions subject to bank controls.

What the Receiving Institution May Ask

  • Why the sender is not using a conventional payment channel
  • Whether the sending side is a regulated bank or another financial institution
  • How the receiving side can independently authenticate the institution
  • What system ultimately settles the money
  • Whether the source of funds matches the sender's financial profile
  • Why the recipient is receiving the stated amount
  • Who the downstream beneficiaries will be

Avoid the 'Technical First' Trap

Fraudulent transfer files often become increasingly technical when basic banking questions are asked. The sender may provide server screenshots, routing diagrams, port numbers or transaction dashboards while avoiding direct institutional verification. None of that establishes an account balance or a settled payment.

Dedicated Receiving Structures

Financely coordinates IPIP receiving-account structures for eligible files where a dedicated SPV, institutional onboarding and documented disbursement workflow are commercially justified.

The structure is client-controlled: Financely coordinates setup and transaction workflow rather than taking custody of incoming funds.

For the technical and banking distinction, read the complete IPIP guide. For comparison with standardized messaging, see IPIP vs SWIFT.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to provide the receiving bank's IP address first?

A legitimate workflow should begin with institutional and account approval. Technical connection details come only after the participating institutions agree the route.

Can Financely take custody of the funds?

No. Financely coordinates the receiving structure and transaction workflow; it does not operate as the client's deposit-taking institution or custodian.

What proves receipt?

The receiving institution's account credit and confirmation under its own operational controls.
