## Top 10 Syndicated Revolving Credit Facilities Signed by Commodity Traders (2025 to 2026)

The largest syndicated revolving credit facility deals signed by commodity traders since May 2025 total over USD 28bn across ten announcements, led by Trafigura, Mercuria and Gunvor.

Most of these deals were oversubscribed or upsized during syndication, a sign that bank appetite for trader risk stayed strong through price volatility. The ranking uses headline facility size from each borrower's announcement or a named deal report.

### What the deals have in common

**Short tenors, annual refinancing.** The core structure is a 365-day tranche paired with a 3-year tranche. Trafigura added 5-year tranches in both its European and Asian deals for the first time.

**Asian and Middle East liquidity.** Chinese, Singaporean and Gulf banks led Trafigura's Asian deals, which included CNH term loans.

**Borrowing base in the US.** Gunvor USA and Castleton fund US activity through secured [borrowing base RCFs](https://www.financely-group.com/borrowing-base-rcfs-for-commodity-traders?ref=blog.financely.io) rather than unsecured lines.

**Sustainability-linked pricing.** Gunvor Singapore and Louis Dreyfus Company tie margins to ESG targets.

### What this means for mid-size traders

The same banks fund smaller traders through bilateral or club facilities secured on inventory and receivables. Getting there takes audited accounts, a credible borrowing base report and hedging and risk policies a credit committee can approve. Financely prepares that package and runs the lender process through our [debt advisory for physical commodity transactions](https://www.financely-group.com/debt-advisory-for-physical-commodity-transactions?ref=blog.financely.io). ### Frequently asked questions

What is a syndicated revolving credit facility for a commodity trader?

It is a committed credit line provided by a group of banks that the trader can draw, repay and redraw to fund cargoes, margin calls and working capital. Large traders typically split it into 365-day and 3-year tranches and refinance it every year.

Why do commodity traders renew their RCFs every year?

Short tenors match the short trade cycle and keep pricing low. Annual renewal also lets traders resize facilities to price levels and volumes.

Can a mid-size trader get a syndicated facility?

Usually not at first. Mid-size traders start with bilateral or club borrowing base facilities secured on inventory and receivables, then move to larger syndicates as audited accounts, track record and controls build up.

Is Financely a lender?

No. Financely is an advisor and arranger. We structure borrowing base and revolving facilities and place them with banks, trade finance funds and private credit lenders. You close directly with the lender.
